AN ODE TO MY LOVER

When I rise in the morning,
It is Bread, peanut butter and chocolate tea,
Power breakfast that gets my engine kicking,
All I need to do is roll over and feel the chemistry.

She’s the first thought after my prayer,
And last thought when I’m about to retire,
Sliced, whole or toast, all na bread,
Lord, help me not to dash my head!

Wheat, chocolate, fruit or cake bread,
Variety is taste, taste the variety,
With a spread of local peanut butter,
The one eaten with garden egg,
Oh lawd, nothing compares to my lover.

My travelling companion, my lover,
I feel your wonder and your power,
When pressed down and gulped with chocolate tea,
My troubles and worries become history.
